There are several types of prolapse
Let’s face it, the concept of a prolapse doesn’t sound that great. So you’d think they’d come up with some cute names for this stuff. But no! Here are the five types of prolapse:
Cystocele: when the bladder drops down into the vaginal area
Rectocele: when the rectum (lower part of the intestines) pushes into the vaginal area
Entrecele: when the small intestines bulge between the uterus and rectum
Uterine Prolapse: when the uterus drops down into the vagina
Vaginal Prolapse: when the upper part of the vagina drops down so that the vagina turns inside out (and you thought you weren’t good at gymnastics!). This usually only occurs in women who have had a hysterectomy. |
