Tips for Surgery
A couple of things to think about if you’re considering surgery:
- Wait until after you’ve finished having children.
So that you don’t risk undoing your surgery in childbirth, your doctor may suggest waiting until after you have finished having children.
- Don’t lift anything over 20 lbs/9 kg!
You will be asked not to lift more then 20 lbs / 9 kg from 6 to 12 weeks after the surgery, depending on the surgeon . Of course, this is completely impractical for moms with young children, so you may want to wait until your kids are a little older before you have the surgery.
- Take time to heal.
Moms don’t have time to lie around and heal!! However, the moms who have been through the surgery all say not to rush back after the surgery to being “super mom” and to give your body time to heal.
- Change your lifestyle.
To give your surgery the best chance, your doctor may recommend refraining from lifting heavy items for the rest of your life. That means you may need to reconsider your dream of becoming a weightlifting champion.
