Are you at risk?
If you can check any of the below – then you need to take care of your pelvic floor: |
| □ |
You’ve had a baby |
| □ |
You’ve had a big baby |
| □ |
You’ve had several babies at once |
| □ |
Your delivery was long and difficult |
| □ |
You sustained a tear to your perineum during your delivery |
| □ |
Your doctor used forceps, suction or performed an episiotomy during your delivery |
| □ |
You’re carrying a lot of extra weight (we’re talking 50 lbs/23 kg or more) |
| □ |
You’ve suffered from long-term constipation |
| □ |
You’ve done a lot of heavy lifting |
| |
|
OK, you could say EVERY woman is at risk and should look after her pelvic floor muscles. These muscles are just as important as our abs, quads and biceps that we spend so much time working out.
Hot off the press!
Did you know that just by being a woman you have a 13% chance of having pelvic floor dysfunction like urinary incontinence, anal incontinence or organ prolapse?
And if you’ve had a baby these chances go up!
- If you have had one baby the chance of pelvic floor dysfunction increases to 18%
- If you’ve had two babies that chance increases to 25%
- If you’ve popped out three babies or more that chance increases to 32% or more.
