"But I don’t feel right ‘down there’!"

And that’s why this website is here.  It’s a little known fact that there are some women who just don’t heal up the same after their delivery.

Vaginal delivery is the major inciting factor in the development of pelvic floor dysfunction in women, according to the National Institutes of Health in the U.S.

So what happens to your happy muscles when they get stretched or strained in childbirth?

  • It’s harder for your pelvic floor muscles and connective tissue to hold your organs in place, which can lead to prolapse.
  • It’s more of a challenge for these muscles to keep your pee and poo inside you, which could mean some form of incontinence.
  • A hurt pelvic floor could cause pain during sex, a fairly common condition known as dyspareunia.

There’s no one reason why some women sustain an injury to their pelvic floor during their delivery,  just as there’s no one reason why some athletes get injured and others don’t.  There are so many factors that can come into play during childbirth that it makes it difficult to determine an exact cause.  So no, you can’t run off and sue your doctor
