Types of urinary incontinence
Stress Incontinence:
Oops, you leak urine when you laugh, cough, lift heavy objects or run. This means the muscles that keep your bladder closed may have been weakened by the pregnancy or the delivery. So when you generate pressure on your bladder by coughing or lifting for instance, the weak muscles can’t keep the pee in.
Urge Incontinence:
Funny, all of a sudden you have to go the bathroom … RIGHT NOW. And, how annoying, sometimes you can’t make it to the washroom in time! For some women, just thinking about peeing or hearing running water may trigger the need to go. Urge incontinence, also known as an overactive bladder, means the nerves and muscles in and around your bladder have been slightly injured, possibly from the strain of your pregnancy and delivery.
Mixed Incontinence:
And just to keep things fun, you can have a combination stress and urge incontinence.
